For all you Big Red customers that have been waiting to your HTC Droid Incredible 2 to be updated to Gingerbread you may like to know that the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update 2.18.605.4 is now available for your Droid Incredible 2 smartphone, which apparently fixed numerous glitches with the device.
According to an article over on Wireless Mobile News, the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update also delivers better global connectivity, wireless charging, a new desktop dock application and improves Mobile IM.
The Android 2.3 Gingerbread update weighs in at 116MB and takes roughly fifteen to twenty minutes to download and three to five minutes to install so it is probably best that you make sure your HTC Droid Incredible 2 has a fully charged battery before starting as not to risk having the download botched in any way.
So here’s what else you can expect with the Android update, a new downloads manager app, improved word selection and copy functionality, improved stability reducing lockups and resets, additional wireless charging user interface, under management apps where a new “running” tab displays a list of a active apps along with memory and storage that is being used by running apps, power and app management details, alarm notifications halted in Emergency Mode, New York Times site has now been added to browser bookmarks, and a new capability to select a word by press-hold.
Other improvements with the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update include a better on-screen keyboard with auto-correction and multi-touch, updated calendar options, improvements to the camera, security features improvements, cut & paste improvements, and improved email syncing.
Apparently the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the HTC Droid Incredible 2 was made available yesterday and Droid Incredible 2 owners will get a notification that the operating system update is available; however the word is it will probably take roughly two weeks for the update to hit all owners of the Droid Incredible 2.
Obviously if you receive the update notification you cannot update if you are roaming unless you do so using a WiFi connection, which considering the size of the download is probably the best option anyway. So there you have it, just keep your eyes open for that notification, as it will be coming soon if you haven’t yet received it.
