Old Samsung despite having numerous problems at the moment with a legal battle with Apple, are still readying high end and mid range Android smartphone for the mobile space, and a new device comes to light today in the form of the Samsung Admire, a mid range handset that is apparently destined for MetroPCS.
According to an article over on Samsung Hub, the Samsung Admire for MetroPCS, also known as the Samsung SCH-R720 will come out to play packing Android 2.3 Gingerbread right out of the box.
Detail wise the Samsung Admire I said to sport a 3.5-inch HVGA touch screen, a 3.2 megapixel camera, an 800 MHz processor, 3G connectivity and unfortunately no LTE, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, and TouchWiz user interface.
Price wise it is expected that the Samsung Admire will be offered by MetroPCS for somewhere around $149.99 after rebate and when signing on for the usual two-year agreement although word is MetroPCS could possibly lower that asking price on release.
As for when potential customers are likely to be able to pick up the Android smartphone, the word is the Samsung Admire is planned for release in either August or September although no actual data is known at this time other than apparently the Samsung Admire will replace the LG Optimus M which will be discontinued.
Other than that there’s no other details on this new Sammy handset to speak of, but if you are in the market for a mid range Android 2.3 Gingerbread handset that will not cost you the earth then perhaps the Samsung Admire will be worth a look and consideration once it hits the streets.
Obviously the device is no Samsung Galaxy S II but then as they say you get what you are prepared to pay for, and some people simply can’t afford the higher end smartphones, so perhaps the Samsung Admire will float your boat.
