Android smartphones are becoming very popular indeed, we would love to know how many would actually purchase the new Motorola Triumph seeing as the new Motorola Droid Bionic is set to release in around 2 weeks time.
The Motorola Triumph is now available to buy via Virgin Mobile USA and Best Buy, both have the same price tag of $299.99. This Android smartphone is exclusive to Virgin Mobile USA customers and can be purchased via major retailers and online.
This is not a phone you can put up against dual-core Android smartphones, but it is a good handset with some cool features for the price, it has a single core 1GHz processor, 4.1-inch capacitive touchscreen featuring 16-million colours support and 480 x 800 pixels resolution, as well as a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, it comes with a front-facing camera for video chat and 720p HD camcorder with HDMI output.
Here are all the main features: Rechargeable lithium-ion battery, 2GB Secure Digital memory card, Android 2.2 operating system, Bluetooth compatibility, MP3 player, Threaded Text Messaging, Picture Messaging, Twitter, Games, Wi-Fi, 512 internal memory, Expandable Memory, Email and Instant Messaging, ActiveSync Contact and Calendar Sync, 3G and much more.
Personally it is not a high spec device but for only $299.99 for a no contract Android smartphone it is cheap, but the design is nothing special and it is not what you call a powerhouse smartphone like the Photon 4G or the Droid Bionic.
The price tag at $299.99 is very good indeed especially seeing that no contract is needed, we say that the Motorola Droid Bionic will have a similar price tag on Verizon but you can count on the 2-year contract that is needed.
What are your views on the Virgin Mobile USA exclusive Motorola Triumph, is it an Android handset you will buy or will you just give it a miss and join the Motorola Droid Bionic waiting line?
The Motorola Triumph comes with Android 2.2 (Froyo), now come on Gingerbread already installed is the way to go nowadays, it will obviously get upgraded to Gingerbread but still nothing special to see here as they say.
We have to remember this smartphone is not high-end and it was never meant to be, it is for a different market than the Droid Bionic. For a pre-paid phone it is reasonable, this is for those not wanting a contract, those that do not need all the tech, its simple and cheap and that’s is that. If you prefer the Droid Bionic it does mean leaving Virgin Mobile for Verizon, are you willing to do this?
