iOS 4.3.5 Unlocks with Gevey SIM, UltraSn0w User Warning

The new iOS 4.3.5 was released by Apple yesterday, which fixed the security vulnerability with certificate validation. The latest news is that the Gevey SIM will unlock iOS 4.3.5.

Before we talk about the Gevey SIM, yesterday we mentioned that the RedSn0w will jailbreak the new iOS 4.3.5, and if you like jailbreaking your Apple devices then it was suggested you stay away from the update. You can use RedSn0w if you do not want a tethered jailbreak.

Now getting back to the Gevey SIM, this product works with iOS 4.3.5, we would like to give a user warning here, if you jailbreak and use UltraSn0w then it is recommended by iDB, but if you use the Gevey SIM there is good news.

Apple blocked the Gevey SIM back in iOS 5 beta 2 and so on, but it seems that Apple may possibly leave the exploit until the final version of iOS 5 is out, good news for some.

We wrote about the Gevey SIM back in June and warned users that it is illegal and was also confirmed by MuscleNerd it was illegal.

Please do let us know if you are a RedSn0w or UltraSn0w users, we would also like to know if you are a Gevey SIM owner and if so what do you think about the product. We would love to hear from all those that downloaded the new iOS 4.3.5 and if you had any problems at all.

There is not much more to go on here at the moment, other than to ask if you use the Gevey SIM could you please let us know how you got on. We will bring you news updates covering all about iOS 5 etc. In the meantime can you hazard a guess as to when the new iOS 5 will be released to the public?

      Same, not even one hour ago I had to update to the latest software and it still worked! No jailbreak though… Do you know if I can use the tethered jailbreak and still have my GEVEY Sim work correctly? Thanks.

        This might be a lengthy message but I hope it will help the rest of you who want/already tethered jailbroke your iPhone 4. My story is my girlfriend updated my phone from 4.3.3 to 4.3.5 so I jailbroke it and its my first one with tethered. the best way that I have found out is to turn on WiFi and download all the tweaks, apps, whatever your gonna want from Cydia. After your all done with cydia install all the apps and what not and it will most likely ask you to reboot just turn your phone off. Boot the phone in tethered like “normal” (normal is just booting your phone =[ ). This time ignore the message that gevey sim pops up with (hit whatever you want) go back to cydia and download Ultrasn0w and it’ll have you respring. You wont have to reboot your phone for the gevey sim message to pop up just wait a few seconds. this time turn off the wifi and THEN do the steps it takes to get signal to your phone. if you mess up for something goes wrong just turn your wifi on and REINSTALL ultrasn0w and then respring turn wifi off then repeat the steps. This process worked for me and I hope it’ll work for you guys. Let me know if this does work for you, i’ve spent hours and hours tryin to get it to work. Damn girlfriend………….. but I still love her =) haha

          3 Pop Gevey Sim out after Iphone is Jailbroken.

          Gevey instructions.
          1. Pop out sim. wait for No Sim message.
          2. Replace sim, wait for Gevey Accept message.
          3. Wait for the reception bar to show up. should only be one.
          4. Dial 112. 2 seconds. hang up!
          5. hit airplane mode off, then back on.
          6. wait for you carriers reception bars to come up.
          7 Your Done!

          Eg. no need to turn phone off for Activation of Gevey Sim

    I upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 4.3.5. I’m trying to use Gevey Sim and it looses reception. It’s really getting to my nerves now. Its not unlockable as of now as my basebnd is 4.10.01. I’d really appreciate the help provided 🙂

    Just bought 2 iphone 4’s running 4.3.5 with baseband of 4.10.01. I have read conflicting stories on using the gevey ultra (which i just ordered) and jailbreaking with redsn0w. I thought I needed to jailbreak with redsn0w then use the gevey ultra and I would be good to go. I just read something that said dont use redsn0w. Thoughts from anyone on this? oh and do I have to use that 112 dialing code with ultra sim?

    every time i use thetered jailbreak on my ip4 4.3.5, gevey sim unlock will not recognize the carrier even u do the step for unlocking. still when i restart my phone (it means jailbreak will be gone but cydia icon is still there but non functional and also safari) i can use gevey to unlock. any solution for this?

    I recently upgrade my ip4 to 4.3.5, Gevey SIM Ultra still works. But after I JB with Redsn0w, it can’t unlock anymore.
    Then I installed Furiousmod then reboot, no luck. Then I uninstall the Furiousmod and decided to go back to non-jailbreak mode. But before that, I decided to give it a final try, then I did the manual unlock steps and it worked!

    Just received an updated Iphone 4 from the Mac store today as I had broken my screen and brought it in for repair only to find out that they just trade out the phones. I was very afraid that I wouldn’t be able to unlock with Gevey Sim Pro anymore as the baseband was the most recent (4.10.01). To my excitement it works just fine! I am currently running Firmware 4.3.5. I did have a few problems trying to get it to recognize at first but I found if I keep going in and out of Airplane mode it will eventually turn on. I would LOVE someone’s feedback on Redsn0w working with Gevey sim as I would like to jailbreak my phone again.

    in step 3 – pop out sim when it’s jailbroken and is ON or is OFF?

    do I need another Gevey Card when you say ‘Replace Gevey Sim’ ?

    or just pop out and get it back in?

    p.s. which redsn0w to use with 4.3.4 ?

    Well this is simple. I am a gevey user and what do i think of the product? It rocks, why? Because it works… Thats the whole thing here, just as long as it works its good. But when a software unlock will come out for 4.3.5, i will definitally use that.

    i am using a Gevey sim… just found out its illegal tho, via your article…..oops. lol but i love it because just like Michal said it WORKS! AT&T pretty much screwed me, and i was left with an iPhone 4 that i couldnt have service on. so i purchased a Gevey sim so i could take advantage of TMobile’s $50 a month plan and it works just fine!! question tho..

    if i update to the new ios5 will my gevey sim possibly no longer work? i want to do the update cus the features look awesome but im afraid i wont be able to get service after that.. is that true?

    I unfortunately DID update to the IOS 5 and I’m pretty positive that the software has “crashed” my Gevey sim!

    I had no problem making it work on the previous software versions but as soon as I updated to the 5.0, I couldn’t get passed the installation process on the phone. So I couldn’t even get in to the menu page which also meant that I couldn’t get the dial pad up to do the unlocking process!

    I’ve now downgraded back to 4.3.3. The good news is that I’m able to get in to the menu but can’t get a network signal! So does that mean I have to buy a new Gevey sim?

    I am stiil jailbroken with 4.3.5. I used RedSn0w the only problem i had with this was using  the wrong one. U need to download 0.9.8b7 NOT 8b3 or 8b4. And yes it is tethered…but not to unlock. Still waiting for the official unlock.

    I had lots of problems with my phone with 4.3.5 using a tethered jailbreak and the gevey sim.  But without jail breaking, the gevey sim works fantastic.  No problems. Love it.

    i have a gevey pro sim with my iphone 4 gsm using Nepal telecom , i upgraded to ios 5 then after i have to restore my iphone to factory setting and it is saying sim not valid, what happened , what should i do, jailbreak n unlock it by using iliberty or redsnow or buy another gevey sim or what would be better?

      Your out of luck buddy, you have updated the baseband by installing ios5. You can now only use your iphone in the country’s carrier it was purchased to. Unless they find a new unlock for the iphone 4, which seems unlikely anytime soon.

    Some users likes to read after They update to IOS5. when the Gevey stop working…. The Gevey works on IOS5 but you need a custom IOS5 that not update de Baseband, if you update to IOS5 with Itunes you can go back to 4.3.5 but your baseband can’t go back… Sorry guys, for a few weeks (lets hope) you’ll have a small wifi Ipad!!

    maybe the jailbreak is a problem together with the Gevey Ultra card, how I restore it in the unjailbreaked version, so I can use the phone with the Gevey Ultra card? has anybody a solution.

    I’m currently using the Gevey on my 4.3.5 version.  I accidently shut it off and now only see the apple image appeared.  I cannot get out of this screen.  What can be done to get it to work again?

    I’m so confused I have an iPhone 4 version 4.3.5 b,b 4.10.01 ,I want to be able to use it through T-Mobile , which gevey  sim do I purchase? Because they’re so many different one s And what jailbreak do I use ? Please I’ve had my phone for 3 months and I’m so confused with all the different types of Sims. T-Mobile also gave me a micro sim that I can activate once my phone is unlocked .

    the  gevey sim works for me on 4.3.5, but once i get into the subway and the signal goes, it doesn’t come back until i do the steps again. A little annoying but can’t really complain since its work. Hopefully an unlock will come out for 5
