As you are no doubt aware over in the good old US of A the HP TouchPad has become quite the popular tablet when HP announced the discontinuation of the webOS slate and thus caused a fire sale of the tablet with prices reaching a sweet low of $99, but what about over here in the United Kingdom?
Well apparently the HP TouchPad price crash fever has now his the UK as according to an article over on Metro, yesterday retailers chopped down the price of the HP TouchPad in the UK resulting in some retailers websites becoming overwhelmed due to such high demand.
Word is though if you are still on the lookout for the reduced HP TouchPad you might find it somewhat difficult in the UK to get hold of the slate as apparently Dixons began offering the TouchPad at a lower price of just £89 for the 16GB and $115 for the 32GB version and sold out of stock in just 5 minutes.
Apparently both Currys and PC World struggled with the overload of visitors to their websites minutes after the HP TouchPad price was lowered, whilst apparently the Carphone Warehouse website crashed under the weight of demand and are also now out of stock.
However not all retailers have reduced the asking price on their HP TouchPad as Tesco still offers the slate at a price of £429.00 however Tesco is also currently out of stock.
Amazon UK does have some stock and offer the 16GB HP TouchPad for £294, but there is only 1 available, while the 32GB model will still set you back £499.95.
According to the article, a rep for Dixons has said that customers that purchased the HP TouchPad at the full price should be able to get a partial refund. Furthermore word is HP has put aside $100 million as compensation for those that sold the TouchPad tablet at wholesale price.
Thus it would appear that the crazy demand for the HP TouchPad has now hit the UK, and to be fair at that £89 price for the 16GB model it has to be a snap of a deal but whether you can locate one for sale is another matter.
So how many of our UK readers are hoping to snap up a low priced HP TouchPad over the coming days/weeks? Feel free to let us know if you have managed to grab one or are still searching.
