More speculation on the up coming iPhone today, as you are no doubt aware, recent rumour has it that the iPhone 5 will be spreading its mobile wings this time round to include both Sprint and T-Mobile with Apple delivering the iOS smartphone to tall four carriers in the USA.
However, it appears that Sprint either doesn’t wish to add to that speculation or they simply don’t want their customers to expect the iPhone 5 on their network as according to an article over on 9to5 Mac the guys over at Sprint Feed are in possession of a Sprint internal memo that kind of disclaims the rumour.
Apparently according to the internal memo, Sprint instructs their employees how to deal with customers, who ask about the iPhone on the network, and suggest that the customary “no comment” response is probably the better option.
Furthermore is a Sprint rep is asked a straight out direct question concerning the Sprint iPhone by a customer, employees are to respond, “Yes, I saw a few of those reports. I don’t have any information to share.”
Meaning basically that although Sprint employees are allowed to acknowledge the existence recent reports and speculation, but aren’t allowed to comment any further on the matter, and even direct customers to the Sprint newsroom.
So either Sprint is working to dispel the rumour that the iPhone 5 is finally coming to Sprint because it isn’t, or they are simply trying alert their employees not to discuss the iPhone 5 coming to Sprint because they don’t wish their workforce to out the fact until such times as Apple confirms.
Having said that. The thing this memo mainly does is draw attention to the possibility that the rumours are true and that Sprint will gain the iPhone 5 in October, otherwise why even bother to issue the memo to basically ignore customer questions about the device and respond with the standard “no comment” reply?
