Although there is currently no official word from Apple just when the iPhone 5 will be released to the iOS masses, it appears that even thought the iPhone 5 hasn’t yet been officially announced doesn’t mean you can’t slap your pre-order in for the much sought after next generation iPhone with Deutsche Telekom.
According to an article over on Apple Insider by way of Bloomberg, Deutsche Telekom today started pre-orders for the iPhone 5, the reason apparently is that the carrier is somewhat concerned with “supply bottlenecks” at the release of the iOS smartphone.
Apparently how the iPhone 5 pre-order works is potential customers for the latest Apple handset receive a coupon to grab the iPhone 5 once Apple see fit to release the device.
However, and no surprising in the least, Deutsche Telekom knows nothing about the iPhone 5 including what the smartphone will actually be known as when it comes out to play, when the next iPhone will release or and technical specification.
Also apparently the iPhone 5 pre-order isn’t advertised on the Deutsche Telekom website and potential customers have to actually visit a retail store to get their iPhone 5 reservation coupon, which will be dished out on a first come first serves basis, and customers are only allowed one coupon.
Thus it would appear that Deutsche Telekom at least are expecting the iPhone 5 to release as per rumours have indicated and that should be early to mid October. So will we see other carriers start to offer pre-orders for the iPhone 5? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
