A little while ago we were treated to the first pictures of LG’s latest Android based smartphone, and now the word is LG has gone official with the LG Optimus LTE, the companies first real challenger to the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE in South Korea.
The guys over at Slash Gear have got the low down on the LG Optimus LTE formerly known as the LG LU6200, and sports what the firms calls the first 1280 x 720 handset panel on sale in the country, that’s a 4.5-inch “IPS True HD” display by the way.
The LG Optimus LTE also offers an 8 megapixel camera, HD video recording, a 1.5GHz dual core processor, HDMI, DNLA, and a 1800mAh battery, and the guys say that the combination of LTE and a speedy processor “is likely to suck down power pretty darn quickly.
As for the LG Optimus LTE operating system, well as one would expect the handset will be running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, no word on whether it will be upgradeable to Android Ice Cream Sandwich as yet though one it becomes available.
As for availability, the LG Optimus LTE should land on SK Telecom as of tomorrow the 5th of October, no word on what the smartphone will command price wise or if it will see the light of day outside South Korea, although o doubt LG will want to get this addition to the Optimus range out there at some point in the future especially as the United States is rolling out 4G LTE networks left right and centre.
