Well now, one would have thought that as Nokia is pinning their hopes on returning to their former glory in the mobile arena on their Windows Phone offerings they would be planning on grabbing as much attention to the devices during the holiday buying season in the United States, however apparently this doesn’t seem to be the case.
According to an article over on Slash Gear the guys over at AdAge have got hold of Finnish handset makers advertising plans, which shows that Nokia might not be considering offering their Windows Phone smartphones in the US until sometime next year, thus missing the all-important holiday season.
This could mean that such Windows Phone devices as the Nokia 800, Nokia Sabre and Nokia Ace, devices that are expected to be unveiled during Nokia World 2011 in London, may only become available in Europe and other markets other than the US during the festive season.
Apparently according to AdAge, Nokia is still specifically looking for a digital company based in San Francisco to further develop and expand Nokia’s global “Amazing Everyday” advertising campaign in the United States.
One would have thought that Nokia would have taken advantage of the US holiday season to push their first Windows Phone handsets as the US is quite a large market with the potential for shifting a multitudes of handsets, and it seems somewhat strange to me that Nokia wouldn’t take advantage of this, but perhaps Nokia has other ideas.
Nokia has some way to go to challenge the dominant rivals in the smartphone space, Apple and Android, bit it would appear that when it comes to releasing those first Nokia Windows Phone Nokia will concentrate their efforts outside the USA.
Any of our readers over the pond in the good old US of A waiting to pick up one of Nokia’s first Windows Phones, if so feel free to let us know by posting us a comment below.
