Xperia 2011 range to get Swype style gesture input update: video
For all you Sony Ericsson fans out there that own a 2011 Xperia smartphone, the word is you will be seeing an update to your handset that delivers gestures input, and a few days ago Sony Ericsson pushed out a video showing off that gesture input, and of course we have that footage for your viewing pleasure below.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia software update gestures input video comes our way courtesy of the guys over at Phone Arena and lasts a minute and a half of showing off a “swipe-to-type” gesture that resembles the Swipe keyboard.
This gestures input is to be part of an over the air software update for all Xperia 2011 smartphones later in the year and apparently will ship pre-installed on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S as the handset comes toting Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread.
In the footage you will note just how similar the gestures input is to Swipe including the light-blue trail left by swiping your finger from letter to letter and supports numerous languages.
The Xperia 2011 handsets that are scheduled to receive this software update are, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, Xperia Mini, Xperia Mini Pro, Xperia Neo, Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, Xperia Pro, Xperia Neo V, Xperia active, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray, the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman and of course the above Xperia Arc S.
So there you have it, no word on just when the above Xperia 2011 devices will actually see the update, so until then head on down and mash that play button to check out the footage…enjoy.

My Xperia Play came pre-installed with Swype.. I don’t understand the point of this update.
