Android Ice Cream Sandwich HTC handset updates announced
As all of the Android faithful know, the next Android OS will be Android 4.0 or Android Ice Cream sandwich if you prefer, and everyone knows that the first smartphone to come out to play packing ICS will be the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, but what about other handsets? Well it appears HTC has stepped up to the mark an announced which of their smartphones will receive Android 4.0 first.
According to the guys over at Ubergizmo, HTC UK has used their Facebook page to announce the first wave of HTC devices that will be updated to Android Ice Cream Sandwich, although they fall short on coming forth with an actually date when the devices will see the update.
So what are the HTC smartphones in that “first wave,” well apparently there will be a variety of handsets including the HTC Sensation, Sensation XL, Sensation XE, the HTC Rezound, EVO 3D, EVO Design 4G and the HTC Amaze 4G.
Having said that of course the HTC Rezound, HTC EVO Design 4G and HTC Amaze 4G are of course US based devices, and a for just when you can expect all these handset to see Android Ice Cream Sandwich, well all HTC has said is it will be “coming early 2012.”
So if you are considering purchasing one of the above HTC Android smartphones, as least now you know at some point next year you will be updated to the latest Android operating system, and HTC are continuing to access their product portfolio and will deliver more info on device upgrades about Ice Cream sandwich as and when they know.
Does the news of the above HTC handsets receiving Android Ice Cream Sandwich sway your decision to purchase one of those devices or do you intend to wait a while longer to see what other handsets are likely to gain the ICS update?
