Looks like the iPhone 4S is going to be somewhat of a big success in Hong Kong, as word is as soon as the iPhone 4S went up for pre-order the iOS smartphone rapidly sold out, leaving those that missed the opportunity to trudge down to their local Apple store on Friday to hopefully snap up the device when it becomes available.
According to an article over on Redmond Pie by way of AllThingsD, some reckoned the iPhone 4S Siri voice assistant not supporting Cantonese or Mandarin would cause the iPhone 4S not to reach expectation in Hong Kong and China, however this doesn’t seem to be the case.
Apparently once the iPhone 4S went up for pre-order in Hong Kong, the iconic Apple smartphone sold out in just 10 minutes, which one has to agree is pretty fast.
Here’s what Brian White of Ticonderoga Securities says, “In our view, this is a very positive sign for iPhone 4S demand in Greater China as Hong Kong represents the first entry of the new smartphone in the rapidly growing region and we expect the 4S to reach Mainland China in December. We believe this rapid sell out will rest concerns surrounding the uptake of the iPhone 4S in the Greater China region that were driven by the limited language capability of Siri, which did not launch in Mandarin or Cantonese.”
Thus it would appear that despite not being the full-fledged iPhone 5 that was originally expected, the iPhone 4S is making a name for itself in its own right, and obviously not just down to that inclusion of Siri. But then isn’t everything Apple a success no matter what?
