Ice Cream Sandwich source code available, you having problems?

Google have just release its Android Ice Cream Sandwich source code (Version 4.0), it is the same Android 4.0.1 build that is on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone releasing this week.

If you visit the official Google Groups page you will see instruction on how you can get it, this is a very big push to get it out so it is advised that it WILL take quite a while for the process to complete.

DO NOT sync before it is done, Google advise that you wait for then to give you the all clear before you sync, if you do decide to sync before its done you will get an incomplete copy that you won’t be able to use.

Google mentions that in the source tree there is a device build target called “full_maguro”, you can use this to build a system image for Galaxy Nexus, the build configurations for other devices will come later.

That is the official news above, but a few that have tried it are having problems, some of them are getting an error message saying “error: revision android-4.0.1_r1 in manifests not found”, one commenter asks ‘is this just because platform/manifest is the last project to be updated, or something else”?

Jean-Baptiste Queru, who is the one that made the source code public has an answer to the error message above, “That’s why I asked people to wait a bit: the push is still going on”, he will let everyone know when everything is in place.

Phones Review Say’s: If you are getting the error message saying “error: revision android-4.0.1_r1 in manifests not found”, it means you did not read the manifest properly, only letting you all know this so you are aware, please remember this “If you do decide to sync before its done you will get an incomplete copy that you won’t be able to use.”

Anyway, please let us know how you are getting on, and what you think of the new Android Ice Cream Sandwich source code?
