As you no doubt are aware old Motorola has decided to combine two iconic brands with their newest smartphone, the Droid and RAZR brands to deliver the Motorola Droid RAZR, but with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus soon to be available over in the states, can the Droid RAZR tempt customers away from the first Android Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone?
Well the guys over at Droid-life have done quite an in-depth review of the Motorola Droid RAZR and have comes up with the good and the not so good with the Motorola Droid RAZR which we will highlight the main point here and if you wish to check out the full review you can do so by hitting up their website.
So let’s start off with the good points, the Droid RAZR has an upgraded display over the Motorola Droid Bionic, with a Super AMOLED Advanced display although no on par with the Galaxy Nexus or HTC Rezound. When it comes to hardware the guys say its “spectacular” and the design is a “drastic change from previous designs.”
As for the Droid RAZR 8 megapixel camera they say it could be the same as the Droid 3 and Droid Bionic but seems to act very different and has great software tweaks and takes impressive pictures although it isn’t on the same level as HTC cameras.
Single and call quality on the Droid RAZR according to the guys works much better than the Droid Bionic and performs as well as any other LTE handset when it comes to download speed.
On to the not so good, the big issue as with most LTE enabled devices is the Droid Razr’s battery life and to make the battery last a day you need to turn off LTE and GPS whilst toggling WiFi. Another downside to the Droid RAZR is it doesn’t have a 720p HD screen whereas both the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and HTC Rezound do, and of course the Droid RAZR does lack Android 4.0, but no doubt it will gain Android Ice Cream Sandwich at some point and the fact that the device lacks NFC support.
Overall thought the Droid RAZR is a polished Android smartphone, slim and lightweight and performs well, but Motorola could have done a little better by delivering that HD screen like they did in the Chinese version.
Whatever the case with the ICS Galaxy Nexus making its debut soon, Android users over in the states have a hard decision to make between the Droid RAZR and Galaxy Nexus, which way will you go?
