How’s that iPhone holding up, getting a bit warm now and then? I ask this because it appears that an iPhone recently caused a bit of a do aboard an Australian flight when it started to glow red and emit a substantial amount of dense smoke as the aircraft came into land at Sydney, albeit rapidly being extinguished by a flight attendant.
According to an article over on The Next Web, by way of The Register, Regional Express reported the combusting iPhone incident either an iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S, but no harm came to anyone.
As from the image shown above, you can see that the iOS smartphone came off worse for ware, with cracks and a hole when it combusted, glowed red and smoke poured out.
Obviously this isn’t the first time an iPhone has run hot, exploding and been damaged as we have heard of this happening in the past, and when you consider teardowns of the handset indicate that the battery sits on the ride side of the device it would appear that this combustion case can be put down to a battery fault.
Have to say, I use Android devices and haven’t really noticed any building heat on a device when I use it, but that’s not to say Android or any other device other than iOS suffers from hot batteries, but mostly it is iPhones that tend to get reported on when it comes to overheating and exploding in my opinion.
So how is your iPhone 4/4S holding up when it comes to feeling a bit on the hot side? Feel free to let us know by dropping us a line to our comments area below.
