Droid RAZR, Xoom and Bionic Android 4.0 update confirmed
If you are an owner of a Motorola device stateside you’ll no doubt be wondering if or when your smartphone or table will be updated to the latest and greatest Android operating system, Android 4.0, well word has come down from Motorola on the matter of updating devices to Android Ice Cream Sandwich.
According to the guys over at Pocket-lint, Motorola has outlined their plans for updating their devices to Android Ice Cream Sandwich, and have said that when Google released the ICS source code it doesn’t automatically update to a device and then goes on to let everyone know what the process takes to get the new OS onto a device, but we’ll skip all that jargon and get to the nitty-gritty.
Motorola is planning on delivering Ice Cream sandwich to as many devices as possible but this depends on numerous factors including underlying software support, ICS support, along with hardware/device capabilities.
But to cut a long story short and put it into a nutshell, Motorola has basically confirmed that the Motorola Droid RAZR, Motorola Xoom tablet including the Family Edition and Motorola Droid Bionic will all be updated to Android 4.0 initially.
As for when owners of the Droid RAZR, Motorola Xoom and Droid Bionic will actually see that Android Ice Cream Sandwich update hit their device, well as usual that little piece of information remains in the land of mystery, as Motorola says they will deliver “more precise guidance on timing after post-public push of Ice Cream Sandwich” along with updating that list of devices.
