Well now, there appears to be a little rumour flying round the net waves that if you are hoping to snap up the latest Android slate out of the Asus camp the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime, a rumour that the tablet has been delayed worldwide until next year due to some sort of issue with WiFi: however it appears said rumour could be untrue.
According to the guys over at Phandroid, one of their readers that pre-ordered the Transformer Prime tipped them off that online retailer NCIX had sent out emails to their pre-order customers that the Asus Transformer Prime had been delayed worldwide and will most likely not be available before Christmas due to Asus believing the WiFi range doesn’t meet their standards and has thus delayed all shipments of the device.
However on hearing about this rumoured delay with the Android tablet, the guys over at Slash Gear contacted Asus on the matter to get an official response and their sources at Asus came back basically saying all was still on schedule.
The Asus sources say, “We are trying to confirm who released this statement and for what purpose right now. At this point, we still show to be on schedule to start shipments the week of 12/19. I will provide an update once I have additional information.”
So there you have it, apparently the rumoured worldwide delay is untrue and the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime remains on schedule and should become available as of the 19th of this month.
Of course that could change, especially as the sources say “at this point” and “I will provide an update once I have additional information,” which basically means Asus could confirm a delay closer to that December 19th date, but hopefully wont.
