Since the Apple iPhone’s humble beginnings, it’s fair to say that the popular handset has come a hell of a long way. With users now enjoying the iPhone 4S, we wanted to travel back in time to see how the phone has changed to the present day.
Although in design the 4S is notably similar to that of it’s predecessor, new features have been included giving it that extra edge over and above the previous iPhone 4. These include 8 megapixel camera, Siri voice assistant and the new iOS 5 OS. Other changes since the original iPhone according to redmondpie.com include, the use of apps. An interesting infographic has been designed to look at the changes from some four years ago, these include design and hardware.
The first we can see from back in 2007 when the iPhone released, is that of its 2 megapixel camera, iOS 1, 3.5-inch LCD screen, multitouch with at the time no available apps. If we then look a year later we were blessed with the iPhone 3G, with in 2009 the iPhone 3Gs bringing with it, a 3.2 megapixel camera, voice recognition, 833MHz processor and compass with some 85,000 apps available.
The popular iPhone 4 became the next in the line-up in 2010, with Retina display, Facetime, 5 megapixel camera and HD recording. Sales of the little baby reached 1.2 million just in the first weekend. Compare this to today with the iPhone 4S the newest of the bunch, selling in the region of 4 million in the first weekend. Features as we mentioned include Siri, A5 chip, 8 megapixel camera with 1080p, new firmware iOS 5.0, with some 425,000 apps being available within the app store.
