Ice Cream Sandwich Galaxy update official plans confirmed by Samsung

For all you Android faithful out there that don’t own the Android 4.0 Samsung Galaxy Nexus, but are hoping your Galaxy handset will at some point see an update to Android Ice Cream Sandwich, you just might like to hear that Samsung has now confirmed which Galaxy devices will see an ICS update in the future.

According to the guys over at Ubergizmo, the official Samsung Blog has announced Sammy’s official Android 4.0 update plans and such dives to see the Android Ice Cream Sandwich update included…

The Samsung Galaxy S II, Samsung Galaxy S II LTE, Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy R, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, 7.7 and 8.9, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus.

So it would seem that the Galaxy S2 LTE model along with the Galaxy R have both been added to the Android 4.0 update list, but still missing is the original Samsung Galaxy Tab along with the Samsung Galaxy S.

So if you own a Samsung Galaxy S (like me) or the original Galaxy Tab all you can do for now is keep your fingers crossed that Sammy does deliver ICS to those devices as well at some point in the future.

Sammy does state that they will make separate announcements on the details of OS updates for each market based on carrier requirements and market situations.

Of course you can probably expect to have to pick up that Ice Cream Sandwich update yourself via Samsung Kies, something which can be annoying at best as one would have thought by now and considering the advancement of mobile operating systems, Samsung would move to the OTA update rather than force customers to have to use Kies by now.
