It is time to celebrate Sn0wBreeze, the popular jailbreak just turned two years old and a new update is now available that includes many new features, the pod2g’s iOS 5.0.1 untether was already incorporated into iH8sn0w’s Sn0wBreeze.
The list of changes to Sn0wBreeze v2.9 update comes with many new features, such as an IPSW downloader and support for older firmware such as back to iOS 3.1.3.
Here are the new changes via iH8sn0w’s blog: GUI Improvements, Added an IPSW Downloader, Brought back old firmware support in one release, Built-in iREB functionality updated from newest iREB r5 module, You can now build IPSWs with TinyUmbrella/iFaith blobs! Removes OTA Updates/badge on iOS 5.x.x.x+ devices, Custom Packages in Expert actually works now, and All supported firmwares in this release are untethered.
This is very interesting because it means Sn0wBreeze 2.9 now adds the support firmware starting at iOS 3.1.3 right up to 5.0.1, iDB does warn that this does not apply to iOS 4.3.4, 4.3.5 and iOS 5, but apparently these are coming very soon. Another words, it will not work on A5 devices like the iPhone 4S or iPad 2.
