Lottery call for Hong Kong iPhone 4S customers

Apple’s next generation iPhone 4S officially released October 2011 to a number of countries, with others to follow on. At the beginning of this month in Beijing, soaring crowds of customers surged forward at Apple’s flagship store to get their hands on the much longed for smartphone. Due to crowd confrontation and a large number of scalpers, the Cali Company decided to withdraw sales of the iPhone 4S.

Now we can bring you good news today. Thanks to a new thought up system, Apple have introduced a lottery that allows customers wanting a new smartphone to log on, input certain information and if lucky reserve a new handset.

According to pcmag.com, customers will need to input a government issued ID number, and log onto the new lottery system during a three-hour time slot between the times of 9 am and 12 pm. Lucky customers gaining a reservation will be sent an email notification before the time of 9 pm and given a time slot of when to pick up the handset.

The new system has been set up in order to make it fair to all customers desperately wanting a new Apple iPhone 4 or 4S, past Apple phone launches have resulted in scalpers abusing the first come first served basis, with them buying up the handsets and selling the phones on the grey market.

Is this a fair way for customers to get a new Apple handset? Should the Cali Company change their future launches in this way?
