Yep more rumour on the next generation iOS smartphone along with the next generation Galaxy S has hit the net wave today, a rumour that has it both the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 (SGS3) might come out to play with a little waterproofing tech in the form of a Liquipel coating.
Back in January we posted an article that said the iPhone 5 might receive the Liquipel waterproof coating, and now according to the guys over at Ubergizmo, the people over at Todays iphone are claiming that one of their sources who has been correct in the past says the next iPhone and the Galaxy S3 will both get the Liquipel treatment.
Apparently the unnamed source is “well placed” in one of the United Kingdom’s top independent phone retailers, although they do say that we should still treat this Liquipel new as rumour.
The Liquipel nano coat treatment bonds to both the outside and inside of a device and thus makes the device in this case the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S3 liquid repellent, of course if the rumour turns out to be true.
Apparently this unnamed source says, “Both will have had liquipel treatment as they’ll be altering the wording on insurance,” however when pressed for further info on exact changes to the insurance docs he wasn’t so forthcoming.
Liquid and moisture damage are amongst the top reasons for insurance claims with smartphones, so waterproofing such high-end devices as the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3 could change that somewhat.
Anyway this should still be treated as rumour until such times as more concrete evidence on the matter comes to light, but do you thing using Liquipel waterproofing tech on the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3 is a necessity?
