As many of us with mobile phone handsets will recognise, having full support for fast connectivity by way of LTE networks is a massive bonus, and today China Mobile with its 655 million customers has uncovered a new plan to implement TD-LTE across the entire country.
As dailywireless.org reported, by the end of 2012 some 20,000 TD-LTE base stations will be fully functional with a rise expected to escalate to 200,000 by the following year. In a brief statement from the main man of China Mobile President Li Yu he said, “We’re ready for large scale deployment with commercial service becoming available in 2013. The first TD-LTE installations will start during the second half of this year, and this will include some of the existing TD-SCDMA sites being upgraded to TD-LTE.”
China Mobile it seems was spurred on when a demo TD-LTE network was exposed some two years ago receiving nothing but good comments. Along with a number of base stations being in full working order by the end of this year, Li Yu was keen to comment that cellular operations in neighbouring Hong Kong, which currently has access to FDD and TDD bands, will come together as a LTE service, with the use of 30MHz of TDD spectrum bands 2330MHz-2360MHz.
Having the use of a TD-LTE service will provide the use of both transmitting and receiving with just the use of one channel, as reported to that of WiFi.
