Recently a lot of smartphone speculation has centered around the iPhone 5 and Samsung’s Galaxy S3 flagship device, but that’s not to say there are not some other great handsets in the pipeline. Today we have news of the HTC One X that looks to be heading to US carrier sprint in the coming months.
It’s been a while now since HTC showed the world the One X and now there are rumours that the device is heading to Sprint in the summer, and according to Phandroid via S4GRU the device has got the codename of Jet with a possible June 10th release date.
The handset would become the carrier’s third LTE device following the LG Viper and Galaxy Nexus, and while sources didn’t actually say the device named internally as Jet was the HTC One X, but the specifications match. The HTC One X is the only handset from HTC that will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor that has NFC connectivity, and both of these are also included in the Jet specifications.
Other rumoured specs include 4.7-inch Super LCD 1280 x 720 screen, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, LTE Band class 25, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and CDMA 1X, EV-DO Rev 0/A/B. Just like the AT&T version of the handset the device won’t be using the Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor, which will be of some disappointment for US consumers, but the Snapdragon S4 is no slouch.
HTC has already stated they are going to simplify its model range with less devices and better names, and the company already has a history with Sprint with the EVO 3D and EVO 4G, and some are wondering if the Jet will actually be another handset to join the EVO family. It has to be remembered though this is just a rumour and until it is officially confirmed by either company they have to be taken with a pinch of salt, and also June 10th is a long way off so a lot can change.
