Android device users were pretty pleased when the Mozilla Firefox browser first became available for their use. However, the one drawback was that it only worked on newer Android devices but the good news today is that a Mozilla Firefox Alpha has now been released for users of older ARMv6 devices.
The arrival of one of the most popular browsers in the world to the Android platform was greeted with enthusiasm so the news that Android ARMv6 architecture devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy Mini, will now also be able to benefit will be music to the ears of many more Android fans. The news comes from the team at XDA Developers and senior member Kannibalism initially posted about Firefox becoming available, with the news quickly spreading through other threads.
To install the APK simply download it and install it on your preferred file manager and away you go, you can use Firefox browsing. However as this version is still at the alpha stage there are a few things to note first. Kannibalism informs that the Firefox Alpha browser is not compatible with some plugins on the market already available for the stable version and that compatability depends on the version number. However Kannibalism also notes that after using the alpha version it is considered fairly stable.
If you can’t wait to try it out then and can put up with the odd glitch you can check out more information, download links and support at this ARMv6 Firefox thread or the official alpha discussion for Firefox ARMv6 here. Have you got an Android ARMv6 device and will you be trying out the Mozilla Firefox Alpha?
