Recently a new app became available for the iOS platform called Sparrow for iPhone, which is an alternative email client for your iOS device that features full IMAP support, attachments, and a unified inbox, but the one thing Sparrow for iPhone does lack is push notifications for incoming email messages.
However, according to the guys over at iDownload Blog, if you happen to own a jailbroken iOS device, there is a Cydia tweak called Sparrow Push that will add the push notifications feature to the Sparrow email client, whereby when installed, the Cydia tweak will enable incoming email messages even when the program is in the background.
Those powers users that might have been put off of the Sparrow for iPhone app might like to reconsider purchasing the Sparrow for iPhone email client once the Sparrow Push app is installed, as the tweak makes Sparrow a real replacement for the stock mail app.
However, although the Sparrow Push app is available right now, apparently there is a problem in as much as the Sparrow Push tweak stops music after closing the Music app, such as Spotify and the like, so they would recommend that you wait until such time a fix is pushed out to resolve the issue.
Apparently iOS developer Ron Melkhoir is also in the process of making his own push notification application for Sparrow, which could prove to be a better option. We also have a quick look at the Sparrow Push tweak for your viewing consideration below, so don’t forget to hit the play button and check out the video.
