Apple first revealed the latest version of the iPad back on March 7th, which was followed by the device becoming available in certain regions last week on the 16th. Today we have news of the fast rollout of the new iPad with 24 more countries set to get the device this coming Friday.
The company has published a press release and stated that since it became available last Friday they have sold three million units already. To recap the latest iPad features the stunning Retina Display that is powered by the new A5X processor, which features a quad-core graphics chip. There is also a new five megapixel iSight camera for capturing all those special moments, with a claimed ten hour battery life.
For the first time inside an Apple mobile device the new iPad now has 4G LTE connectivity offering ultra fast data downloads in the US and Canada. The big news though is the availability of the device in more countries on Friday at 8.00 am local time from the company’s online and retail stores, and authorized resellers.
The 24 extra countries to receive the new iPad include Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden.
Pricing begins at $499 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only model going up to $829 for the 64GB Wi-Fi + 4G version of the tablet PC. This will be good news for consumers in the regions getting the device this week after watching it launch in areas such as the UK and US last week.
Besides the apparent overheating problems affecting some users Apple’s latest incarnation of the tablet PC has been well received so far, with early adopters really praising the new display. Will you be getting the new iPad on Friday?
