Now that the Google guys have changed the name of the Android Market to Google Play, the latest word is the Google guys are speaking with movie companies with a view to start selling films to users of Google Play, as at the moment users can only rent movies from Google Play, and there appears to be a bit of an issue with that with Hollywood studios.
According to the guys over at Phone Arena, unnamed industry sources have told Cnet that apparently some movie studios have set a condition that in order for Google Play to offer movies for rent they first need to sell movies, and thus Google Play is mulling over the idea apparently with the possibility of offering movies for sale in the summer.
According to Cent it appears that Google Play is gearing up to upgrade some of its features to do with music, which includes “rejiggering” of song displays and the organisation of libraries, although when contacted, a spokesperson gave the usual response, that the firm doesn’t comment on rumour and speculation.
One does have to say that offering movies for sale on Google Play could be a tremendous move, and as Android is the most popular platform out there, offering movies for sale could draw in big bucks depending of course on asking price.
So what do our Android readers think about this, would you consider purchasing movies from Google Play if the price was right?
