Upcoming 2012 Amazon Kindle tablets
As you no doubt know, the Amazon Kindle Fire tablet has been quite a success for Amazon, and the online retail giant will be delivering new Kindle slates this year, which will be 2 new 7inch slates along with an 8.9-inch Kindle tablet that are set to target low, medium and high markets, and will offer varying resolutions.
According to the guys over at The Next Web, the 7-inch low-end tablet will sport a resolution of 1024 x 600, whilst the mid-range 7-inch slate will pack a resolution of 1280 x 800, and the high-end 8.9-inch Kindle tablet will sport a resolution of 1920 x 1200.
The word is that Amazon has apparently penned deals with Hon Hai, Chimei Innolux, Prime View and Quanta for flat panels, and Chimei Innolux will apparently exclusively supply 7-inch touch sensors, with a view to maintaining low production costs on the Kindle tablets.
Back in Sept 2011, Amazon launched the Amazon Kindle Fire, which was assembled by Quanta due to Amazon wanting to enter the tablet space as quickly as possible, and asked Quanta to help them with the look and feel of the new slate. When it comes to the new 2012 Kindle tablets, Quanta will assembly the mid to high slates whilst Hon Hai is to assembly the low-end 7-inch Kindle tablet.
Back in December 2011, Amazon said they had shifted more than 4 million Kindle devices in the run up to Christmas, and that customers purchased over one million Kindle devices a week, and Kindle devices became the most popular products on Amazon stores in the UK, US, France, Spain, Germany and Italy.
No doubt Amazon will be looking to retain that popularity when they deliver these three new Amazon Kindle tablets, although Amazon hasn’t come forth with any expected release date for the devices just yet; more as and when we hear.
