In the last couple of years 3D capable equipment has become all the rage with the likes of TVs, smartphones, and games consoles all featuring the technology. Today we have news of the Epson Moverio BT-100 3D goggles that feature a unique Android platform.
Epson America has now announced the availability of the world’s first see through wearable display, which according to SlashGear is based on the Android platform. The glasses make use of micro projection technology along with a track pad, which is based on Android and allows the user to experience video and other digital content on a virtual 80-inch perceived display.
They also have built in Wi-Fi connectivity along with an internal battery that will provide around six hours of continuous use. There is also a built in microSD port on the glasses to allow the use of microSD cards for direct playback of content, and 1 GB of on board storage.
One smart feature of the device is the fact the projected video appears over the real world so the user can watch the content and still see what is going on around them, which makes the glasses perfect for augmented reality. Adobe Flash are supported by the glasses, and also feature Dolby Mobile surround sound that is delivered via the built in but detachable earphones.
Also supported by the glasses is side by side 3D content and the controls are taken care of via the wired remote that has a touchpad along with the standard Android navigation buttons. Android is used to navigate the UI and manage content, and there are a number of smartphone style apps available.
The device is available to order now either from Amazon or directly from Epson priced at $699.99. Do you like the look of the Epson Moverio BT-100 3D goggles?
