Earlier this week we heard of a Phones 4U store in London’s Oxford Street that was covered in Samsung posters with coming soon signs, and a date for the 30th of this month. This led some to wonder if we would finally see the Samsung Galaxy S3 revealed, as the retailer had partnered Samsung last year for the launch of the Galaxy Nexus. Unfortunately for some it was quickly revealed what the posters where really for causing some Phones 4 U Samsung Galaxy S3 event disappointment.
As we reported to you only yesterday the store in question is undergoing some work so it can make room for a Samsung concession on the first floor, which the retailer has done in another one of its stores but for RIM and its BlackBerry range of products. With this news we are no nearer to finding out when the device will be showcased, let alone released to the waiting public.
For a short time it seemed that Samsung could be about to surprise everyone with an event to reveal what the next Galaxy S smartphone will be like, so are you disappointed that there will be no big reveal this week?
The upcoming device is rumoured to have a beautiful 4.8-inch Super AMOLED Plus 1080p display, which is thought to also be a 3D screen, and powered by a quad-core processor believed to be the 1.8 GHz Exynos 4212 chipset with 2GB of RAM. Other rumoured features include a new version of Samsung’s TouchWiz Android overlay, and of course the Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
It has also been claimed to feature a 12 megapixel camera on the rear with a 2 megapixel shooter on the front, and 4G LTE and NFC capabilities have also been mentioned to be coming. Alongside the iPhone 5 the Galaxy S III is probably high on many consumers wish lists, and could quite well be the must have smartphone for 2012.
There has been a variety of timeframes given for the handset reaching consumers, with many believing we are not too far away from its release now. Are you waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S3?
