We attempt to bring readers all the latest smartphone news and insight and right now a lot of attention is concentrated on the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S3. Both of these phones are already up against huge expectations, however when we really think about it there are reasons why the perfect iPhone or Android phone will never happen.
Our readership seems pretty much split between their enthusiasm for Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android platform and many extol the virtues of the latest smartphones to come along and feel they have the perfect phone for them. However the clue is in the words ‘for them’ as we’d say it would be virtually impossible for one phone to be what everybody is looking for and what everybody loves, whether it’s an iPhone or an Android phone.
Also mobile technology is changing so rapidly that what once appeared cutting edge only a few months ago can sometimes appear dated only a short while later. Take the new influx of quad-core smartphones that are coming up for release. Only last year plenty of us were excited about dual-core processor smartphones and yet very soon they could look old hat.
Even with an outstanding smartphone that most people rave about there will always be somebody that doesn’t like the feel of it, a particular feature, or feels a certain specification can be improved. Looking at the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S3 for example so many rumored specs and features are anticipated that it would be virtually impossible for Apple or Samsung to include everything expected on their next flagship devices.
Another thing to consider is that if Apple, Motorola, HTC, Samsung or any other manufacturer were to actually include everything available at the time of launch, such as the very best camera, processor, design, display and more, then where would this leave them in regards to the following devices. It’s more likely then that manufacturers will always want to leave a certain amount of ‘room for improvement’ by not bringing the very best of everything to the table so that those specs and features can be brought to the next ‘big thing,’ e.g. iPhone 6 and Galaxy S4.
Taking into account then that no one smartphone can be ideal for all, the rapid speed that mobile technology is changing at and the fact that manufacturers are shrewd enough to leave room for improvement next time, we’d say this is overwhelming proof that there will never be any such thing as the perfect iPhone or Android phone. We’d love to hear your thoughts on this though. Maybe you disagree and feel that the iPhone 5 or Galaxy S3 for example, could indeed be the perfect phone? Or perhaps you feel as we do, that the perfect phone will never exist? Let us know by sending your comments.
