New Qualcomm LTE iPhone 5 October release not June

There is so much talk about the next iPhone and today there is a little more news, no one knows for sure if the new Apple smartphone will release in June or October like the 4S, but new reports suggest what is being called the iPhone 5 will release in October with a Qualcomm LTE chip.

Apple Insider is reporting that Analyst Gene Munster with Piper Jaffray that a note to investors claims that Qualcomm is dealing with supply issues for its 28-nanometer LTE baseband, thus believing that the next iPhone will possibly be released October 2012, which makes it one year after the iPhone 4S release.

A new iPhone with LTE 4G connectivity and a fourth-quarter launch, this expectation comes after reports of Qualcomm based on Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company increased capital spending. The new iPhone will need something special to keep customers happy, and with a new wave of upgrade is required to meet with the company’s connectivity to high-speed long-term evolution data networks.

The source above also goes on to say that Apple’s expectations to utilize Qualcomm’s “MDM9615” LTE chip would support both data and voice connections on 4G LTE networks. Last year the release date for the iPhone 4S was a shock considering June is the norm, so it makes sense for Apple to release the next iPhone one year later, which would be on track for the year on year release.

The next question we would like answered is “Will the next Apple smartphone be called the iPhone 5, New iPhone, or iPhone 4G LTE?” Guess we will have to wait until WWDC 2012 kicks off in June in San Francisco, Calif.
