You always know that we are getting close to a new smartphone being launched as the amount of leaks and rumours intensifies in the days leading up to the big reveal. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has been taking centre stage recently and only yesterday a handset that was being claimed to be the device was seen in a video, and now we have news that Amazon has jumped the gun with a Galaxy S3 pre-order page and price.
The German version of the online retailer has made the Galaxy S3 available for pre-order ahead of its official unveiling on May 3rd in London. It has also gone one step further by offering a price for the handset, which as T3.com are reporting is listed at 599 Euros, which is around £491.
Amazon’s listing also suggests the Galaxy S3 will feature a twelve megapixel camera along with a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display and built-in LED flash. It also lists the device to have 16GB of on board storage and as you would expect the Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS.
Obviously this listing by Amazon could just be some second guessing by the company to get some customers signed up early, but there is the slight chance that someone at the company may have some insider knowledge about the upcoming smartphone. We have seen various retailers in the past putting devices up for pre-order long before they have actually been released, with details such as release date and price changing nearer to the handset actually becoming available.
Ever since Samsung revealed that the Galaxy S3 wouldn’t be making an appearance at this year’s Mobile World Congress the rumour mill has gone into overdrive. The company said they wanted to reveal the device nearer to it being available to consumers, so there is a chance the handset could actually be released within hours of its big reveal in a couple of weeks.
What do you make of the Amazon pre-order page for the Galaxy S3?
