Last month we told you of some possible dates for this year’s WWDC event from Apple after the Moscone Center in San Francisco was booked, and today Apple provided confirmation of the 2012 WWDC event with the release of the tickets, and the possibility of an iOS 6 launch.
The event as reported before will kick off on June 11th and will run for five days, and according to GottaBe Mobile the event will focus on developing for iOS and OS X. There is a good chance we will be told more about iOS 6 and Mountain Lion, as last year the company used the event to first reveal iOS 5 so a similar situation seems likely this year.
Hopefully Apple will also reveal the release date of OS X Mountain Lion with the company already looking a late summer timeframe for its latest version of OS X. The annual conference is held so Apple can hold talks with developers about the future of iOS and OS X, and holds technical sessions with hands-on labs to aid developers.
Tickets for the event went up for sale at $1,599 and were limited to five for each organisation, but these were sold out within two hours with Apple banning resales. Videos of the event are put online soon after the event for those who can’t make it or can’t afford the tickets and the past two WWDC events can be found here.
It is looking doubtful that we will see the illustrious iPhone 5 released at this year’s event either, and the company is widely believed to be following last year’s route and launching the device during the fall. As always with Apple though you never know so you now have a date to keep in your diary to keep an eye out for any developments that may happen at this year’s event, and you can be sure the team here on Phones Review will be working hard to keep you up to date with news as it breaks.
