RIM BlackBerry 10 touch device later half of 2012

I’m sure most know that Research In Motion has fallen behind in the smartphone stakes of late, and their hopes are that the new BlackBerry 10 smartphones will help them move along that long road back to their former glory in the mobile space, but just when will the mobile space see the first BlackBerry 10 handset arrive?

Well, according to the guys over at N4bb, Thorsten Heins, the CEO of Research In Motion has said that a BlackBerry 10 device will be seen by the ‘later half of 2012.’

Elaborating on that ‘later half’ the guys say that one of their sources, of the unnamed variety and as such can’t be confirmed, has told them that RIM is looking to announce the first BlackBerry 10 handset, rumoured to be the BlackBerry London, in August this year, and will be a touch only device with a projected market release of the first half of October.

If this turns out to be roughly spot on it means that RIM will release the first BlackBerry 10 handset just after the back to school and just before the holiday buying season, and it is expected RIM will shove a lot of marketing dollars behind the launch.

Furthermore apparently the guys have also been informed that the mobile space wont be seeing a BlackBerry 10 handset sporting a QWERTY keyboard until sometime in the first quarter of 2013.

So, with this in mind, we’d like to hear from our readership as to whether they feel that BlackBerry 10 will offer enough to grab their attention, or more importantly move back to BlackBerry and actually purchase a BlackBerry 10 device when it’s available, or if you are quite happy to pass BlackBerry by when considering a new handset.
