Happy flashing with HTC One X CM9 ICS ROM

The HTC One X is very much the smartphone of the moment and the international variant is available in many regions now. Today we have news that those who like to tinker with their smartphones will be pleased with, as modders have managed have come up with a CM9 ICS ROM, available to try out now.

We should stress that this is for the international version of the HTC One X that features the Tegra 3 quad-core processor and not the version heading for a release on AT&T in the US that has a dual-core Snapdragon processor. The CyanogenMod custom ROM is an unofficial port and comes from the TripNDroid Mobile Engineering team of developers. Their work has been posted on the MoDaCo forums and if you’re keen to modify your phone then happy flashing with your custom recovery and you can check it out now.

As usual we cannot recommend modifying your smartphone but we know how many fearless modders there are out there. The main aim of this port is to take off the HTC Sense UI and any other non-standard software, while also adding in other tweaks such as changes to the interface. Android Community feels that advanced Android users will find it worth considering.

Remember this is not an official CyanogenMod 9 ICS as it has been developed by an outside team using public source code. However it appears that most features are working except for the cameras and WiFi hotspot and if you’re wondering about the HTC One X’s physical buttons and ICS then Android Community points out that a menu key will appear when necessary, as with HTC’s stock ROM.

We would expect that an official version from the CM9 team will be out at some point but if you can’t wait then had to the MoDaCo link above. Will you be checking out this early CyanogenMod 9 port on your international HTC One X?
