Scalado Album Android app is a visual treat
At Phones Review we enjoy delving into the myriad of mobile apps available and coming up with some of the very best that we think our readers will enjoy or find useful. The app we’re looking at here is for people with an enthusiasm for photography and the Scalado Album Android app really is a visual treat.
The Scalado Album from Scalado Inc. is compatible for use with devices running Android 2.3.7 or later and it’s priced at £0.65. It offers a great experience for enjoying your photographs and while the design is responsive it’s also user-friendly. The Scalado Imaging Platform has been used for an optimum Android experience and makes it easy to find the images you’re looking for.
Key features include instant pan and zoom to see all the finer detail and animated video thumbnails and this app is also suitable for Android tablets. The Views categories include showing All photos, Places (grouped into named geographical locations), Nearby (uses current GPS location), Map View, Months, Folders and Camera Roll. You can download the app from Google Play here.
The app has just been reviewed by PCMag who rated it 3.5 out of 5, notes that it is Scalado’s first consumer app and explains a little about how it works. Pros are listed as the display of photos in high-resolution, faster image navigation than a stock album and enhanced geo-tagging while cons are noted as the lack of a stock album’s editing tools.
The conclusion was that for those using anything less than Android 4.0 it’s a “superior album” to replace your stock Android image album. For those running Android 4.0 ICS or later though, then it’s probably worth sticking with your stock gallery for now, which offers more editing features. Of course the Scalado app will probably add more features in later updates.
