One for the iOS unfaithful today that enjoy jailbreaking their iOS smartphone. Apple recently released iOS 5.1.1 and features some bug fixes, and if you wish to keep your untethered jailbreak then it is best not to update to iOS 5.1.1; however if you do have an iOS device that can be jailbroken on iOS 5., you might like to know that the latest version of RedSn0w, RedSn0w 0.9.10b8b can achieve a tethered jailbreak on iOS 5.1.1.
And the guys over at iDownload blog have come up with a few simple steps on how to gain a tethered jailbreak on iOS 5.1.1 using RedSn0w 0.9.10b8b, and they have produces a video tutorial on the matter, which of course we have for your viewing consideration below.
However, it is for iOS 5.1 jailbrakeable devices only and as such will not work with the iPhone 4S, Apple iPad 2 or the new iPad, and is for A4 devices only.
So here’s what you do…first download RedSn0w 0.9.10b8b, and then connect your device to your computer and place in DFU mode and then run RedSn0w. Next go to Extras>Select IPSW> and point to the iOS 5.1 firmware. Once RedSnow identifies the firmware go back to the main page of RedSn0w and hit jailbreak.
When it identified the build, where it asks you to install Cydia, click Next, and Cydia will be installed and then your device will reboot, and after rebooting put your device back in DFU mode, then perform a tethered boot via RedSn0w by heading back to Extras and clicking Just Reboot. After which your device will again reboot and the Cydia icon should appear on your home screen.
And that’s it , job done, so there you have it, you can of course head on down to mash that play button to see how it’s all done, and if you do give it a go feell free to let us know how it all goes by dropping us a line to our comments area below.
