HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE vs EVO 4G LTE comprehensive look
There have been some hugely impressive smartphones arriving on the market lately and today we want to contrast two upcoming HTC phones for different carriers. These notable HTC handsets are both shortly to release, one on Verizon and one on Sprint, cue our comprehensive look at the Droid Incredible 4G LTE vs. EVO 4G LTE
Both of these handsets have a lot to offer and of course your choice may simply be decided because of the carriers. They are both HTC handsets but whereas the Droid Incredible 4G LTE on Verizon is a follow on to the Incredible 2, the EVO 4G LTE on Sprint is aligned more with the HTC One X phone, which has been a big hit. We’ll take a look at the key specs and features of each in a bid to help you decide which would be best for you.
We’ll start with the similarities and there are many of those. Both of these smartphones have 4G LTE connectivity, although of course Sprint’s LTE network is not yet live (expected in the summer). Both run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich overlaid with HTC Sense 4.0, have 1GB of RAM and feature HTC Beats Audio.
Now for the differences. The Verizon Droid Incredible 4G LTE features a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.2GHz dual-core processor whereas the Sprint EVO 4G LTE has a Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a slight step up. Display-wise the Droid Incredible 4G LTE has a 4-inch Super LCD qHD display with resolution of 540 x 960 while the EVO 4G LTE has a 4.7-inch Super LCD HD display with resolution of 720 x 1280. The choice here will also depend on whether you are a fan of the larger displays now in vogue.
Looking at the camera set-up the Droid Incredible 4G LTE has an 8-megapixel rear camera with 1080p HD video capture and also a VGA front-facing shooter. The EVO 4G LTE also has an 8-megapixel rear camera and 1080p HD video recording but the difference here is that the EVO features HTC ImageSense bringing many benefits as well as a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Droid Incredible 4G LTE has 8GB on onboard storage, expandable to 32GB with microSD and a 1700mAh battery while the EVO 4G LTE has 16GB of internal storage, expandable to 32GB via microSD and a 2000mAh battery. If you want to know dimensions then the Droid Incredible 4G LTE measures 121.9mm x 61mm x 11.7mm and weighs 132 grams while the EVO 4G LTE measures 134.8mm x 68.9mm x 8.99mm and weighs 134 grams.
Finally release and price details. The Droid Incredible 4G LTE is heading for a release on May 31 with a likely price of $299.99 on the usual two-year contract while Sprint has confirmed the release date of May 18 for the EVO 4G LTE and a price of $199.99 on contract. You have just a little while then to try to make up your mind which of the two you think best suits your needs.
With much of the smartphone focus at the moment on the just-announced Samsung Galaxy S3 and the upcoming Apple iPhone 5 it’s very easy to overlook over smartphones coming to the market but both of these Android handsets are very decent indeed. Are you thinking of purchasing either of these HTC phones? If so, which one is tempting you most and why would you choose that one over the other? Let us know with your comments.

These phones crap on Samsung BS. Stop sucking Samsung and Apple’s Ds.
That made completely no sense.
VZW is crazy to try to charge $299 for the DINC 4G versus the EVO for $199 with much better specs. I’d rather have the EVO but I am with VZW. But my contract is expired – so my question is how is Sprint’s coverage? I live in Boston area and spend many weekends on outer Cape Cod.
it aint $299…
11.7mm thick? Wait, wtf? How is this so thick? Every phone is under 10mm these days.
Im gonna go with the Incredible 4G mostely becasue its a world phone.Â
VZW needs to be price competitive. I like the Dinc line, but $299 is a bit steep.
Incredible because it’s small.
It won’t be $299…the site got that info from a leaked Droid Does webpage that showed the specs of the Incredible but the link took people to the Maxx page….that’s why Verizon took it down…the $299 price was for the Maxx….the Incredible will be around $149
