The clever and dedicated jailbreaking community continue to work hard for the benefit of users of both the Android and iOS platforms constantly offering users solutions to the stock software found on our smartphones. In recent weeks serial jailbreaker Pod2g has been extremely busy and it has now been revealed that the iPad 1 and 2 iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak works well.
In the last few days Pod2g has released a video of an iOS 5.1 jailbreak running on the new iPad, and yesterday updated users that the iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak was only a few weeks away from being available. Now according to iDownloadBlog Pod2g has now announced that the iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak works on both the first and second generation of the iPad.
It seems the hacker is running out of devices to test the exploit on, which strengthens the case that it will be available in a short matter of time now. He has now gone through several different iOS devices now in the last couple of weeks, and confirming which ones that will work with his iOS 5.1 jailbreak. The iPhone 4 along with all three models of the iPad are ready to go, as well as the iPhone 4S.
Currently both the iPhone 3Gs and the third generation of the iPod Touch seem to be left out, and if nothing else this latest news is another good sign that progress is being made. It seems now we are coming towards the end of the testing stage, and there shouldn’t be that much left to do now except the creation of the user-facing jailbreak tool.
If some of the tweets that have been seen from the Chronic Dev Team and Pod2g can be believed, we could even see the jailbreak as early as next week. How to you feel about the likes of Pod2g and the other hardworking jailbreaking community?
