Upcoming BBC Sports app for PS3 sits on XMB
The team here on Phones Review normally provide our valued readers information on applications for mobile phones and tablets, but we thought you should know about this new upcoming BBC Sports app for PS3 that sits on the XMB.
As we head to an exciting summer of sports with the likes of the 2012 London Olympics, and of course this year’s Wimbledon, the PlayStation Blog has announced the news that they have teamed up with the BBC to offer Sony PlayStation 3 owners highlights of key sporting events.
The upcoming BBC Sports application will sit there on your consoles XMB and provide highlights from the big sporting events set to take place this summer and beyond that too. The London 2012 Olympics will provide users with 2,500 hours of content alone with up to 24 simultaneous events, which will be available in stunning HD and accessible with a quick press of the X button on your PS3 controller.
There will be other great highlights available, which includes the likes of Formula One and Wimbledon, which users can take control of their viewing experience by using a number of camera angles along with a number of interactive experiences. The use of the application is completely free and is coming to consoles in the summer just in time for this year’s Wimbledon, which begins next month.
It has also been announced that there will be live streams available but it seems the service will only be available to users in the UK, which has been met by some criticism by PlayStation 3 users in other regions. For those that are in the UK though it provides another way to keep up with all the happenings at sport events, and more news about the service is promised before the apps release.
Are you pleased about the upcoming BBC app on the PS3?
