It seems that the Android Ice Cream Sandwich rollout is beginning to gather pace at last after the operating system was originally launched late last year, now owners of some HTC handsets will have more of an idea when they will see the update after the company released a roadmap, and some of the handsets don’t have long to wait.
The handset maker has recently published a new list of its devices and when they should get Android 4.0, and as an article over at the Android Police is stating that this list has more detail compared to previous ones the company released. Most of the handsets have a deployment target range of only two more months, which is far better than before when we were provided with quarterly estimates.
To begin with the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation 4G, Sensation XE, and Sensation XL should all be finished updating by June, while the HTC Vivid and HTC Velocity 4G also have a March to June timescale. The HTC Rezound and Rhyme both have a June to July timeframe, as do the HTC Incredible S, Desire S, EVO 3D, and EVO Design 4G.
We recently told you about the custom ROM that was available for the HTC Desire HD and this handset is down to get the official upgrade between July and August, while the Amaze 4G is listed with a May to June timescale. Meanwhile the Droid Incredible 2 is to be determined by the end of August.
There are a few handsets that are not on the list though such as the Inspire 4G, which is a variant of the Desire HD, and also the EVO 4G, EVO Shift 4G, myTouch 4G and Wildfire S, but many of these are not expected to receive the update anyway, and as you may have noticed some of the handsets listed by HTC have already been treated with some Android ICS love.
Do you have one of the handsets down to be upgraded shortly?
