There are often new smartphones that are released that certain wireless carriers get exclusivity too for various storage options, which was seen with the Galaxy S III and Vodafone, or certain colours only being available from selected companies, and today we have news of the exclusive Silver Sony Xperia P with O2 UK.
The handset promises to have the brightest display that offers the best viewing experience, and the 4.0-inch Reality Display uses what is being called Sony WhiteMagic technology that allows content to be seen clearly even in the brightest of conditions. Users can transfer video content to their HD TV via a HDMI cable and the TV launcher, and Sony’s own applications Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited come pre-installed.
For now the handset will come running the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, but should be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich in the not too distant future, and powered by a 1GHz dual core processor. You get 16GB of on board storage that is unfortunately not expandable by an external memory card, and the handset is listed as providing six hours of talk time, and 19.5 days of standby time from its 1,305 mAh battery unit.
There is an eight megapixel camera that is capable of 1080p Full HD video capture and users are promised that the camera will switch from sleep to taking pictures in just over a second, and the Sony Xperia P measures 122 x 59.5 x 10.5mm and weighs only 120 grams.
The carrier has the handset available from free on a two year contract costing from £27 per month, or for an initial upfront fee of £104.99 on the £16.50 per month plan. Alternatively the carrier has the handset available on a Pay as You Go option that is priced at £329.99. Head over to the O2 website for more information.
