If you are wanting to grab a first look at a new Windows 8 tablet, it appears that the best place to possibly grab that glimpse might be during the Computex 2012 show in Taipei, as word has it Asus, Acer and Toshiba will all bedut Windows 8 tablets during the event.
According to the guys over at Ubergizmo by way of Bloomberg, it is reported that the three companies are to roll out several differing types of Windows 8 tablets during the show, with Acer showing off a Windows 8 slate whilst Toshiba will show off a Windows 8 tablet and a notebook type device according to unnamed people that wish to remain anonymous.
Apparently word is the majority of these new Windows 8 slates are powered by Intel chips, however apparently the Windows RT version will be powered by ARM, whilst one Asus Windows 8 tablet will be powered by an NVIDIA chip.
Those unnamed people have also said that Asus will show off tablets sporting detachable keyboards that are similar to the current Asus Transformer tablet.
Apparently Microsoft plans to show off the Asus devices in a presentation by vice president Steven Guggenheimer during the Computex event on the 6th of June, and the event is the first airing of Windows 8 tablets Microsoft is intending on using to narrow Apple’s lead in the tablet space.
However, as usually Windows RT tablets are showcased behind glass, one does have to wonder with Windows 8 launching soon, if attendees will actually be able to get some hands-on playtime with the slates, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
