After a number of months we are finally seeing more Android hardware receiving the latest version of the platforms operating system, which comes as Google gears up to officially, announce the next version. Today we can tell you that the Sony Xperia Mini Pro Android update is now available.
According to a report over at The Mobile Indian the manufacturer has announced that the Android 4.0 ICS roll out has begun for the Xperia Mini Pro. Sony still has a number of high end Android smartphones that are still stuck running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and surprisingly the company has decided to start upgrading the older Xperia Mini Pro to Ice Cream Sandwich ahead of more recent smartphones.
A while back Sony had announced its future plans for the Android update to a number of its devices, which included its NXT range of Xperia handsets such as the Xperia S, Xperia P, and the Xperia S that are still waiting on the Android ICS software to reach them.
The company has released the new operating system to the Xperia Arc, Arc s, Xperia Ray, Neo, and Neo V smartphones though, and now it is expected to release the update to the Sony Xperia S and other handsets in the NXT series of smartphones in the next few days.
Once upgraded the new software will provide users of the Xperia Mini Pro a whole new look and feel to their device and the OS has been optimised to get the best performance out of the hardware. The update has begun rolling out in almost all of the countries that have the handset including India, and users will need to connect their handset to a PC via the Sony PC Companion software and follow the steps to download the new software.
This news comes not long after Sony confirmed that the Xperia Play would be missing out on Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Has your Xperia Mini Pro received the Android ICS update yet?
