Although Canadian smartphone maker Research In Motion facing troubles in the mobile space, apparently RIM has stated they will top industry growth in India this year, despite losing market share to such rivals as Apple and Samsung, and as such has now launched the BlackBerry Porsche P’9881 smartphone in India.
According to an article over on The Times of India, the BlackBerry Porsche P’9881 was developed in association with Porsche design, and the Porsche P’9881 features a forged stainless steel frame encompassed in a hand wrapped back leather cover and has a 2.8-inch screen.
The BlackBerry Porsche P’9881 also offers a sculptured QWERTY keyboard, 5 megapixel camera, 720p video, runs BlackBerry 7 OS, 8GB internal storage, microSD expansion up to 40GB, and a 1.2GHz processor, and an exclusive PIN that identifies the user as the owner of the smartphone.
Sunil Dutt, managing director of RIM India has said that the smartphone is about style, aspiration and power, and went on to say, “We will not be selling this through the traditional channels. The discerning customers can order their phones to begin with and later on, we will have select outlets like luxe watch and accessories showroom located on the high streets.”
