There are still a vast number of pretty recent and popular Android smartphones out there that are still stuck sitting on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, and we now have news that the Motorola Droid Bionic Android ICS 4.0 release draws closer.
The Motorola Droid Bionic remains a popular handset and as the Android Community are reporting owners of the device are getting some slightly good news. While owners of the device continue to wait for the official release of Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS, it seems that Motorola is getting closer to having it ready, as a near final build of Android 4.0.4 has been leaked and is available to all users.
This will hopefully mean that Motorola and Verizon are working hard to get the software out as soon as possible, and it seems the OS is close to release for the Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX as well. In the meantime users can have a try of the leak that even works on stock recovery devices that have not been tweaked to CWM. It seems the update makes the handset run really smooth with screen brightness improved.
The Bionic’s camera is also improved and the build is said to be quite stable as well, and the software is actually an official build that needs to be flashed using the handsets stock .905 recovery via the latest official OTA. This should mean that users can flash it and enjoy Android Ice Cream Sandwich with ease, but it has to be remembered that only do this if you are confident in such things and at your own risk.
While many handsets are only just getting Android ICS it seems we are not far away from Android 4.1 Jelly Bean being released, but hopefully the official release for ICS on the Bionic will be available in the next couple of weeks. To download the leaked build yourself click here.
