The Android mobile platform continues to be heavily fragmented and the issue could be about to become even worse now a new version is already on route. Google yesterday announced the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update and today we can tell you that the software has already been leaked for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus ahead of its official release.
Google revealed the new software yesterday at its I/O developers event in San Francisco, and along with the new features of the operating system revealed it would be released to some Android hardware next month, and now according to an article on the Android Community someone has discovered Android 4.1 Jelly Bean sitting on the Google servers before its official release in July.
The installer appears to have discovered the same software that was being rolled out to the Galaxy Nexus handsets being given out to developers at the Google I/O event. So far Android Jelly Bean is known to have a new notification system that uses the Google project that focuses on lowering lag with the user interface, which the company has titled Project Butter.
There is also the new Google Voice Search feature that will be taking on Apple’s Siri offering, and the latest version of Android will use the Google Maps off line navigation feature. The leaked Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update can be found here if you are brave enough to give it a try, but remember to only do so at your own risk.
Currently there is no indication that the build is a stable working version of the operating system, but Google is down to push the software out officially around the middle of July with the Nexus S and Motorola Xoom also set to receive the update.
