Pantech Vega S5 seems better than SGS3
Obviously most of the Android faithful out there believe that the best new smartphone to hit the mobile space is the Samsung Galaxy S3, whilst the iOS faithful will undoubtedly say that the new iPhone is a better smartphone when the iPhone 5 finally comes out to play. However let’s be quite honest here, Pantech isn’t that well known for delivering a smartphone that could snatch the glory for the like of the Galaxy S3.
However, according to the guys over at Unwired View and Intomobile, it appears that Korean company Pantech has come up with a new smartphone that could possibly best the Samsung Galaxy S3, and that handset is called the Pantech Vega S5.
Apparently the Pantech Vega S5 beats the Samsung Galaxy S3 in the touch screen department, as the Sammy handset sorts a 4.8-inch display whilst the Pantech Vega S5 sports a 5-inch display, along with a ‘zero bezel’ tech comes in narrower that the Sammy flagships Android smartphone.
The Galaxy S3 is 8.6mm wide whereas the Vega S5 is 6.89mm wide, but apparently the besting doesn’t stop there, as the Pantech Vega S5 also bests the Galaxy S3 when it comes to the camera, with the Vega S5 packing a 13 megapixel snapper as opposed to the SGS3’s 8 megapixel camera.
Both smartphone though do come with the same battery of 2100mAh, and both smartphone run Android Ice Cream Sandwich, and both are 4G LTE handsets, whilst the Pantech Vega S5 sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor.
No word on just when the Pantech Vega S5 will hit the mobile space, but apparently the device will command a price tag of roughly 900K Won in Korea, about $800. However, apparently the Pantech Vega S5 is exclusive with SK Telecom, so chances of the handset ever making it out of Korea is fairly slim to say the least.
Thus it appears that although the Pantech Vega S5 seems to be better than the SGS3, I don;t think old Sammy has too much to worry about, and even if Pantech did deliver the Vega S5 outside Korea, no doubt Sammy would push out an even better handset that the current Galaxy S3.
